Surrogacy:
A surrogate mother is a woman who becomes pregnant (as by surgical implantation of a fertilized egg) in order to carry the fetus for another woman
There are two types of surrogate mothers:
Traditional surrogate (TS) is the biological mother to the baby she is carrying. In this process the surrogate mother becomes pregnant through artificial insemination (AI) using her own eggs. The sperm may be supplied by the Intended parent or a sperm donor.
Gestational surrogate (GS) or gestational carrier (GC) is the most popular form of surrogacy and is the process where the gestational surrogate becomes pregnant through IVF also known as In Vitro Fertilation. The gestational surrogate mother has no genetic relationship to the baby.
